Harvest Home
The weekend of the Chew Stoke Harvest Home went very well with the weather staying fine and crowds of people at all the events.
During the day on Saturday Jubliee Fields thronged with people involved
in a range of activites, from pet and dog shows to flower and vegetable
competitions, punch and judy and a range of stalls and side shows.
During the evening the marquee was transformed into the venue for the
Ceilidh with the Rapscallion Band. Over 100 people danced the night
away.
Preparations for the Harvest Home (3rd Sept)
Chew Stoke has the falgs and signs out in preparation for the Harvest Home which will be held on Saturday, 3rd Sept.
The flower show, dog show, ceilidh and a wide range of entertainment
will be held at Jubilee Field (behind the Methodist Hall) and the horse
show will be at Ogborne fields (opposite Chew Valley School.
Actvities kick off with a childrens disco at the Stoke Inn on the evening of Fri 2nd Sept (6.30-8.30pm) cost £1
On the saturday the horse show starts at 09.00 and the main activites
at Jubilee field start when the bar opens at 11.00 followed by the
programme below

lunches available - BBQ & sandwiches
1-2pm Shepton Mallet Big Band

Throughout the day there will be:
Circus skills demonstration and participation
Children's fairground
Craft & plant stalls
local produce stall
numerous side shows
art exhibition
In the evening (8pm to midnight) there will be a Ceilidh dancing to
Rapscallion Band in the main marquee, Jubliee field - Bar available -
£12 Hot meal & pudding included.
The weekend is rounded off by sunday lunch in the marquee 12.30 for 1 pm £8.50
All of the preparations are progressing well and evreyone is hoping for good weather on the weekend.
School news & new web site
Chew Stoke school is coming to the end of it's academic year and saying
farewell to children in year 6 as they move on in their school careers.
The fun run held a few weeks ago raised £1121.90 which will be used to
improve the muddy area behind the willow structure in the playground
but some is also being donated to Make Poverty History and the Babe
appeal. Money has also been raised with a non-uniform day and PTA BBQ.

Chew Stoke School PTA BBQ
Chew Stoke School PTA held a very sucessful BBQ last night (Friday 15th July) with good food, fine wine and pleasant company. The weather stayed fine and everyone had a good time.
